Rick A. Obernuefemann, 56, of Troy, passed from this life Sunday, March 15, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville surrounded by his caring family and closest friends.
Rick was born Aug. 19, 1958, in O’Fallon. He was a loving father and proud grandfather, who cherished the moments spent with his loving daughters, Jennifer and Amanda, and his precious new granddaughter, Oakleigh. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting rare bottles. Even though he had struggled with serious health issues for many years and had many worries, he was always ready to share a story and reminiscence with friends and family. He will be missed very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar M. & Donna Jean Obernuefemann, nee Hornberger; and a dear brother, Doug Obernuefemann.
Rick is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Joy Furlong, Amanda Obernuefemann and Rachael Obernuefemann; his granddaughter, Oakleigh Furlong; siblings, Vernon Obernuefemann, Sheila Obernuefemann, Jason Obernuefemann, Brian Obernuefemann and Dawn Obernuefemann; nephews, Nathan Neumann and Craig Obernuefemann; nieces, Nicole Obernuefemann and Melissa Obernuefemann; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon.
Memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Msgr. William Hitpas officiating.
