O’Fallon Habitat for Humanity helping community

The O’Fallon area chapter of Lewis and Clark Habitat for Humanity now has a lot for its second building on Carson Drive in O’Fallon.

They currently are raising funds to build on the recently acquired lot.

Habitat for Humanity provides safe, decent, affordable housing as a result of donated labor of both volunteers and the business community. They also receive a significant amount of donated materials from their business partners. Habitat houses are purchased by families at prices affordable for low-income Americans.

Selected homeowners are required to perform 400 hours sweat equity and will have a 25-year interest free mortgage provided by Habitat for Humanity. Thanks to the generosity of the community, Habitat for Humanity provides a hand up, not a hand out.

Fund-raising is necessary to bridge the gap between donated services/materials and the balance of materials needed to complete the build. All funds raised by the O’Fallon area chapter go directly towards the build.

The group now is partnered with H&R Block, which will make a $20 donation for everyone who has them do their taxes and indicates the O’Fallon chapter as a referral.

The O’Fallon group also now is participating in the Habitat for Humanity Cars for Homes program in which cars can be donated to Habitat with donations being tax deductible. For additional information, contact (877) 277-4344 or go to cardsforhomes.org/ed.

Please be sure to indicate the donation is directed to the Lewis and Clark affiliate, O’Fallon Illinois area chapter of Habitat for Humanity, to ensure the donation goes towards the O’Fallon build.

Monetary donations to the O’Fallon area Habitat for Humanity also may be sent to P.O. Box 93, O’Fallon, IL 62269.
