O’Fallon Library Book Club meeting: This month, the O’Fallon Library Book Club will review “The Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation” by Cokie Roberts, and afterward, pick up next month’s selection, “The Drunken Botanist: The Plants That Create The World’s Great Drinks” by Amy Stewart. The club meets upstairs at the library from 7 to 8 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month, except December, and discusses the current selection and picks the next read. Any genre is possible, as long as there’s sufficient copies available for checkout. The helpful librarians order copies for pickup at the next meeting. No purchase is necessary. You’ll read something you might not have tried; do a book a month; and engage in some friendly banter. There’s nothing intimidating nor stuffy. Deadline for O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument submissions: Feb. 28 is the deadline for submitting applications for inclusion on the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument for the Memorial Day dedication Monday, May 28. All honorably discharged veterans who lived in O’Fallon School District 203 at any point in their life are eligible. Applications are available at O’Fallon City Hall, O’Fallon Township Building, O’Fallon Historical Society, O’Fallon Public Library and VFW Post 805, or visit the website ofallonveteransmonument.org. Flowers need to be removed from cemetery: The deadline for removing all flowers and decorations from the O’Fallon City Cemetery is Thursday, March 1. Any items left on the graves will be removed by staff, per cemetery rules and regulations. Items may be placed back on graves beginning Monday, March 5. As a reminder, only flowers in a vase are permitted on the monuments. Any other items will be removed by the cemetery staff. St. Clair County Genealogical Society meeting: Frank Klostermann will discuss his trip to German villages, Westkirchen, Ennigerloh, and Horste, at the St. Clair County Genealogical Society meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at St. Luke’s Parish Hall, 226 N. Spaghetti dinner: The O’Fallon Kiwanis Club has a Spaghetti dinner slated for 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 5420 Old Collinsville Rd. in O’Fallon. Garden Club meeting: The O’Fallon Garden Club’s monthly meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with a social period at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Rock Springs Park Nature Center at 1428 E. 3rd St. in O’Fallon. Program speaker Mary Densmore, who is a member of the New Roots Urban Farm collective in downtown St. Louis, Mo., will talk about her experiences as an urban grower and business entrepreneur. Corpus Christi Mouse Races: Corpus Christi Catholic Church will have “A Night at the Mouse Races” on Saturday, March 10 at the parish center, 205 Rasp St. in Shiloh.
