O’Fallon 11, Granite City 0
The baseball Panthers celebrated their 11-0 shellacking of the Edwardsville Tigers by defeating Granite City by the identical score in their next diamond outing. The O’Fallon batters pounded out 11 hits in just five innings to dismantle the Warriors and collect their 27th win of the season.
Max Schaefer recorded the win with two innings of work. Bradley Snyder followed Schaefer to the mound and preserved the shutout. The two Panther hurlers combined for five innings of shutout baseball, limiting the Granite City offense to just one hit while striking out a total of six batters.
The Panthers had no trouble making contact with the baseball as they scored five first inning runs and added three more in their second at-bat. O’Fallon jumped to the early lead without expending a lot of energy as two bases loaded walks and a sacrifice fly accounted for three of the five OTHS runs. Joe Guithes’ single chased another runner home, and the Panthers were on their way to another impressive win.
