Two people were in custody Tuesday after a woman allegedly set up a 77-year-old St. Clair County man to be beaten and abducted.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department reports, Brittany R. Davis, 19, of 2411 College Avenue in Belleville, went to a neighbor’s home at 11:47 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Anderson Lane. The area is in the Yorktown neighborhood between Belleville and Shiloh.
Davis asked the homeowner for a ride to the store. While she was inside, she allegedly unlocked a door so a male accomplice could get into the residence. When Davis and the victim returned, the male suspect attacked the resident.
“The victim’s hands were bound, and he was placed in the trunk of his car,” said Lt. Scott Weymouth with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department. “He was released on Green Mount Road a short time later.”

Belleville Police found Davis standing next to the victim’s car in the parking lot of Lowe’s home improvement store on the corner of Green Mount Road and Carlyle Avenue.
She originally told officers that she, too, was a victim of the male suspect and that she didn’t know him before the attack. But police believe the duo was working together.
Davis, according to St. Clair County court records, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, a Class X felony, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a person 60 years old or older, a Class 3 felony.
She is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Police have not released the identity of the man in custody, saying only that he is a person of interest.
St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly said Wednesday that he is working on additional charges in the case.
