Homeowner catches man accused of peeking into daughter’s window in Edwardsville

A 35-year-old Edwardsville man is facing charges of stalking after a homeowner caught him looking into a girl’s bedroom window, according to authorities.

John M. Mossman, of the 300 block of Elm Street, was charged Wednesday with two counts of stalking. Edwardsville Police say Mossman was caught by the homeowner about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said they first got a call about a peeping Tom on March 4, at about 7:20 a.m., in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. Then, police got two more calls about a peeping Tom at the same residence twice on Tuesday. Mossman is accused of looking into the bedroom of an 11-year-old girl.

The homeowner says he looked out the window on Wednesday morning and saw the suspect standing there, wearing a stocking cap. The homeowner said he told his wife to call police, then he ran the suspect down, through yards. The home-owner managed to pin down the suspect until police arrived.

Ironically, Mossman’s Facebook page suggests he’s a runner who often participates in running events.

Police said Mossman remained in custody as of Wednesday evening.
