A rolling domestic dispute through the streets of Belleville Friday afternoon left two cars and a garage damaged and a woman in police custody.
According to Belleville Police Detective Mark Heffernan, the female driver of a 1980s tan Chevy Caprice was northbound on North 17th Street past the North 28th Street intersection when she purposely turned west and struck a southbound white Ford station wagon that was approaching the intersection. Following the initial impact, the Caprice continued into the side of a garage on the residential property at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Heffernan said the driver of the Caprice then fled the scene on foot but was captured by police near Fischer’s Restaurant in the 2100 block of West Main Street. Neither she nor the man and woman in the Taurus were hurt in the incident. Heffernan said the individuals have been involved in an ongoing dispute.
The Caprice blocked the southbound lane of 17th Street as officers recovered evidence at the scene, forcing delays for other drivers.
