A woman who ran off after purposely driving her vehicle into another vehicle Friday afternoon was charged Tuesday, Belleville Police said.
Marketa M. Hatcher, 23, of East St. Louis was driving a 1980s tan Chevy Caprice north on North 17th Street past the intersection with North 28th Street when she turned west and struck a southbound white Ford Taurus station wagon. After the vehicles collided, Hatcher’s Caprice continued into the side of a garage on the property at the northwest corner of the intersection, causing significant damage.
Police at the scene said Hatcher then ran off but was located and arrested in the 2100 block of West Main Street. Hatcher and the man and woman in the station wagon were in a dispute, police said.
Hatcher faces a Class 3 felony charge of aggravated battery in a public place and a Class 4 felony charge of criminal damage to property. Bail was set at $10,000.
