Chaparral Lane is located in south Glen Carbon off Illinois Route 162. Major Jeff Connor of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department described it as a “quiet residential area,” and while they are reviewing calls from that street, there’s no clear indication of what happened yet.
“We don’t know why he was there,” Connor said. “In canvassing the neighborhood, no one was familiar with him.”
Connor said the Major Case Squad now has some clues to the man’s identity, but they are waiting on the autopsy before informing any family members and then releasing his name.
More than 20 investigators were currently working the apparent homicide on Monday morning, according to a release from the Major Case Squad.
