A former student at La Salle-Peru Township High School was arrested after allegedly posting a threatening video.
A 16-year-old Peru boy has been charged with disorderly conduct and possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after Peru police received reports about a 13-second video he allegedly posted in which he displayed a gun in a threatening manner, according to the La Salle NewsTribune.
Police searched the boy’s home, but no firearm was found. Still, police have asked the La Salle County State’s Attorney’s Office to consider a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.
Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei said he was "very confident" there was no threat to anyone’s safety, but commended the students who saw the video on Instagram and notified their school resource officer.
