Police confiscate homemade bombs from Illinois home

Authorities found homemade bombs inside a Ford County home about 4 p.m. Monday, according to police.

Police said they found the bombs in a house near a wooded area in Clarence, according to WCIA.

Clarence is located about 40 minutes away from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

The University of Illinois Police Bomb Squad detonated the explosive devices in order to "render them ineffective," WCIA reported.

The Ford County Sheriff's Department said they could not give additional information on the incident as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The Rankin Fire Protection District and emergency medical crews were also on the scene.
