The 24-year-old who was found shot to death Saturday night has been identified by police as Lamondo C. Brown.

Dennis Plew, deputy commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, said Brown was on foot when he was gunned down at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Williams and Ellen streets in Cahokia.

A passerby spotted Brown’s body lying on the ground and called 911, Plew said. Police were on scene by 10:19 p.m.

Plew said residents in the area told police multiple gunshots were fired. After a search Saturday night, police did not locate a gun.

Major Case Squad was activated immediately to investigate the homicide. The 15 Major Case Squad investigators continue to sort through evidence to try to identify the gunman.

Plew said they “are continuing to follow up on leads we are receiving. But, so far, we have not identified the suspect who shot and killed our victim.”

Brown had been living in Cahokia for a couple of months prior to the shooting, but police think he is originally from Belleville.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Cahokia Police Department at 618-337-9505 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477).
