Students at Southwestern Illinois College have elected Oscar Rodriguez to serve on the college’s board of trustees.
“I am ready to give back to SWIC, and do my part, to serve the students and the board to the best of my knowledge and abilities,” Rodriquez said in a news release. “I look forward to making a positive difference for future generations to come.”
Rodriguez was sworn in at the April 26 SWIC Board of Trustees meeting. As student trustee, he casts advisory votes on agenda items during monthly meetings.
Rodriguez, 25, who lives in Collinsville with his wife and their 2-year-old son, is a full-time student at the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. He plans to transfer to a university to major in business administration with a minor in chemistry.
