Father McGivney Catholic High School is planning an expansion after seeing growth over the last two years, according to the Rev. Jeff Goeckner, president of the school.
“The growth is wonderful, but it also means we need to expand and develop our classrooms and campus to accommodate the growth,” Goeckner stated in a news release.
The expansion would add more classrooms, a band and choir room, more private meeting spaces, as well as a soccer field, baseball field and weight room, according to the release.
Father McGivney began fundraising for the expansion in November. By May, it raised $1 million toward its $1.5 million goal. The money will also be used to support financial aid and scholarship programs for students.

It’s not the first time the high school has outgrown its building. The release states that Father McGivney first opened in 2012 in the north wing of St. John Neumann Catholic School. After raising more than $5.1 million, it built its current location at 7190 Bouse Road in Glen Carbon and moved in two years ago.
The public will have an opportunity to tour the school and see the areas that would be renovated May 23. An open house is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. For more information, contact the school’s development office at 618-855-9010 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
