New students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will pay 4 percent more for tuition starting in the 2018-19 school year.

A $351 increase for incoming undergraduate students takes effect in fall 2018, making the annual tuition rate $9,123, according to the university.

The increase for new graduate students will be $304.80 over last year, for a $7,917.60 annual tuition rate.

SIUE already offers in-state tuition to prospective undergraduate students from any state. In the fall, in-state tuition will also apply to graduate students from any state.

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees approved the changes Thursday.
