After waiting two weeks for any remaining qualified absentee ballots to come in, there is now an unofficial winner for the final trustee spot in the Caseyville trustee election: Jackie Mitchell.
Going into Tuesday’s count, Jackie Mitchell and Kent Luebbers were tied at 237 votes. Mitchell received three additional votes to win the seat. Kent Luebbers received one additional vote, according to unofficial totals.
“She probably worked a little harder,” Luebbers said.
Luebbers said he may run for the board again in two years.

St. Clair County Clerk Thomas Holbrook said both Mitchell and Luebbers were present for Tuesday’s count of absentee ballots and hugged each other as they left the county government building.
Three seats were up for grabs in the April 7 election.
John Buckley received 313 votes and Matthew Modrovsky, had 250 votes to lead the race.
Incumbents Rick Casey Jr., who received 219 votes, and Ron Tamburello, who received 203 votes, are now set to leave their seats on the board in May. Rob Watt, the village clerk who ran for a trustee seat, received 193 votes.
“For what it’s worth, every vote counts,” Holbrook said.
The totals are still unofficial, Holbrook said. The canvassing of the election is scheduled for Thursday.
