Office seeking: Madison County Board Member District 21
City of residence: Granite City
Campaign website: Facebook Marc for County Board
Why are you running and why should you be nominated? I am running to make a POSITIVE change to help the citizens of District 21 and Madison County. As Library Trustee I believe that I am there to serve the citizens. As a County Board Member I plan to do the same. I believe we need new faces on the Board as well as in the Democratic Party. I believe not only will I serve the citizens well, I will step up and make the Democratic Party a political party that folks want be a part of in the future. It is important, in my opinion, that as elected officials, we’ve got to be more involved in our community to know what the constituents want from us.
What is the most important issue facing your county and how would you handle it? The biggest issue in our county government is the lack of bipartisan participation. While I plan to work hard for my party, I plan to work harder to get what the voters want. Nothing gets done by always working against each other. My POSITIVE change is to show we can work together. To get things done we’ve got to have compromises and common sense.
What other issues do you want to focus on as a county board member? How would you approach those issues? After reviewing minutes and agendas for individual committees, I really want to see more uniformed ways that the committees present the minutes and agendas to the public. I plan to issue some type of communication to District 21 on what is going on AND communicate verbally with constituents on a regular basis.
