Acting like Thurston Howell III with taxpayers’ AmEx cards

So what else do East St. Louis Township Supervisor Oliver W. Hamilton and Thurston Howell III have in common besides their taste in chapeaus?
So what else do East St. Louis Township Supervisor Oliver W. Hamilton and Thurston Howell III have in common besides their taste in chapeaus?

When East St. Louis Township Supervisor Oliver W. Hamilton and his sister, June Hamilton Dean, in 2012 decided it was OK to charge their impoverished taxpayers $2,434.05 for a three-day trip to Chicago, they departed reality and landed at a place we like to call Oliver’s Isle. Here’s our recap of their pleasure cruise:

Just sit right back

and you’ll hear a tale

A tale of a Chicago trip,

That started from this river port,

The taxpayers all got gypped.

The driver was a mighty politickin’ man,

The navigator a financial whiz.

With passengers set off that day,

For a three day tour,

A three day tour.

The stomachs started getting rough,

So the vehicle was stopped.

If not for AmEx cards of the township crew

Snacks would be the crew’s cost.

Snacks would be the crew’s cost.

The SUV set aground on the shore

Of Lake Michigan’s windy town

With Oliver,

His sister too.

Living like a millionaire and his wife,

Or movie stars,

The boat tours and a grand hotel,

Here on Oliver’s Isle.

(Ending, sung by our Federal Correctional Center chorus)

So this is Hamilton’s next tax-paid room,

He’s here for a long, long time.

He’ll have to make the best of things,

It’s bad to commit a crime.
