eoCrystal Steinheimer’s prison profile lists two tattoos, one about love and one about loving yourself.
It also lists scars suffered on Jan. 10, 2015, when she was drunk and crashed her car head-on into a car carrying three young women on Illinois 159.
Steinheimer is 23 and will remain at Logan Correctional Center until Aug. 14, 2020, for seriously hurting Grace E. Richards of Red Bud and killing both Abigail Liefer, 19, of Ruma, and Hannah Marie Porter, 20, of Red Bud.
The families of her victims carry different scars and permanent marks. Those reminders are their motivation to make someone else’s life better.
“Hannah loved giving back. ... this scholarship, it keeps that going for her,” wrote Porter’s mother, Dawn.
Everybody suffers scars. You can decide to be deformed by them, or you can decide to transform because of them.
