On Nov. 13, 1969 Vice President Spiro Agnew gave a speech in Des Moines, Iowa entitled “On the National Media” . He attacked the national news media for its coverage of the Vietnam War and President Nixon policies on the war. This was in response to the national media giving the American people a truer picture of the Vietnam war than being given by the Nixon administration.
On Aug. 29, 2016 Secretary of State John Kerry expressed thoughts on the media’s reporting of terrorism by stating these words,”Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on”. Maybe, this is in response to certain media sources giving the American people a truer picture of terrorism than being given by the Obama administration.
History has a habit of repeating itself.
