The media and Republicans are wetting their pants over Hillary’s pneumonia and her statement that half of Trump supporters are in the basket of deplorables. If anything, the number is larger than half.

Trump and Pence, themselves, are both deplorable. Mike Pence has said he is a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order. Like his mentor, Trump, he is also a racist, a bigot and a homophobe, which cancel out christianity. Jesus Christ would not sanction their hatred.

Also in the basket are the KKK, David Duke and many white supremacist groups. Trump says many of his supporters are hard-working decent people. He forgot to mention that a considerable portion of them are church-going people who are fueled with hatred for people who are not like them. Hence, you have a basket of deplorables much larger than half.

This is no longer the Republican party of Abraham Lincoln. Republicans have appealed to white racial resentment ever since the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Ronald Reagan often spoke disparagingly about “welfare queens” and opened his Southern Strategy in the den of Southern racism, “Philadelphia Mississippi”, to appeal to Southern white racists.. George H.W. Bush used the Willie Horton ad to do the same.

Republicans have for decades given winks and nods to the most toxic hate groups and racists in their party’s base. Republican Col. Lawrence Wilkerson said, “My party is full of racists”. I rest my case.
