Mr. Trump, you’re fired

Mr. Trump, you’re fired.

Donald Trump has got to go. His impeachment starts today, now. Trump is the most deceitful person I have ever seen. Does a permit give a group of people filled with racism, bigotry and hatred the right to step on and beat the hell out of everybody that won’t give up their space on the streets to them?

What I saw in Charlottesville opened old wounds and memories of my life. Growing up, I had to walk six miles a day to school, while a government bus filled with white children my age passed by me, throwing objections out the windows at me, and shouting insulting words at me. The bus driver would drive so close to me I would have to step into a ditch to keep from getting hit by the bus.

Thank God for my parents, who kept teaching me to love my enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matthew 5:44). They also taught me that you don’t have to become what people think you are.

I am a person with two associate degrees and one bachelors degree, from a family of five siblings that’s never been in any trouble with law enforcement.

Mr. Trump, times have changed. People are tired of being abused, giving in to racism, bigotry and hatred. People of all races have fought for America’s freedom and don’t plan to give it up to people that want everything for free or believe that they deserve it.

Mr. President, speak the truth for a change

What happened to our leadership?

It’s almost unbelievable to see and hear our president condone racism in our country! The one person in this country who could bring our country together is just the opposite!

I don’t understand when former presidents like the Bushes that come out and denounce racism and Donald Trump! We have a Republican president and Republican Congress and Republican Senate and cannot get anything done!

Fighting in the streets is not the answer! My family has served in the military for the last 80 years. One family member was an airman in the all black air corps! I can’t believe that all of these veterans serve to protect the neo-Nazis and have them stage rallies and fights and have their attack American citizens!

But to have the president back them up is depressing! Please, Mr. President, speak up and speak the truth for a change!

Democratic strategy is to divide America with identity politics, racism

Sadly, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party have used the race card to fracture and divide our society for years. To Clinton’s chagrin, many inner city black voters felt used by Democrats and voted for a better life with Donald Trump. Democrats desperately need the black vote to get elected. Russia isn’t working anymore, so the Democrats’ new campaign mantra is white supremacy, racism, and Confederate statues. The Democratic strategy is to continue dividing America with identity politics and racism. Democrats want black voters preoccupied with the racism of the past in order to destroy their sense of worth today. Democrats need black voters to believe that only Democrats can provide them with happiness and a good life. How pitiful are you if you entrust a Democratic politician to provide you with a good life?

Pete Hill, O’Fallon

The true awakening and arrival of true America

Thank you, Donald Trump, for furthering the gradual display of the social discord as witnessed throughout the country.

The true Donald Trump has how revealed himself. America had a general idea as to who he is as witnessed during his campaign for the presidency; however, no one in their wildest dreams could ever envision how totally inept to be president of this country.

Trump and his minions have done a masterful job of destroying the White House.

Trump literally accuses top government officials, dozens of respectable ladies and the press or lies against him.

His favorite words are “fake news.” He doesn’t even realize that he is the creator of the news.

Trump’s close friend (Vladimir Putin) is probably laughing and smiling all the way to the bank.

In closing: follow the money trail.

Results of being a white pedestrian in East St. Louis

A little enlightenment for letter writer Gene Robke that is common knowledge to all but him: If you’re black, you can walk through predominantly white Freeburg anytime day or night without fear. If you’re white, you cannot walk through predominantly black East St. Louis without putting your life in jeopardy. Robbery, rape, beatings and murder are likely results for being a white pedestrian in East St. Louis. Enough said about whites, blacks, and racism.

We know which one is in sheep’s clothing

Does Missouri have two Maria Chappelle-Nadals? Two? And which one is believable? There’s the spontaneous and defiant, arrogant and extemporaneous blue-jeaned, arm waving version who refuses to resign and refuses (for a while) to apologize. There’s a contrite, well-wardrobed, media-readied church lady who says she loves Jesus and made a mistake. Her constituency is behind her at the mike. There’s a soft apology in there, but she does not directly apologize to the president as she should. And how did CNN and NPR fail to give this the equal coverage they layer on the foibles of conservatives. No matter, I think we know which one is in sheep’s clothing.

White supremacists open serve in the Republican Party

The article by Christine Flowers in the Aug. 22 BND was titled, “Conservatives are not rooting for racists to win.” That is laughable. Every one of those hateful white nationalists and Nazis was a conservative and a Donald Trump supporter. There were no Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders supporters in that group.

Racist “dog whistle” politics has been a long-standing tradition of the GOP. Yes, we know. Prior to the Civil Rights Act, Democrats were the racists. That all changed after John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson were the driving force behind the Civil Rights Act. The GOP is no longer the party of Abraham Lincoln.

Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan employed the racist “Southern Strategy” to lure the Southern racists to their base. George H.W. Bush did it with his Willie Horton ads. We all know what the Trump slogan “Make America Great Again” means. Fox News and right-wing radio have done their best for it to mean “Make America White Again.” They have convinced naive conservative white Americans that they are under siege from Mexicans, Muslims, gays and blacks.

Today we have white supremacists openly serving in the Republican Party. Steve Bannon, Congressmen Steve King and Greg Gianforte are sure things among many more who are probable.

No, Christine, you cannot claim innocence now after inviting racists to your party for the past 50 years.
