Give credit where due in Fairview Heights aldermanic race

I found the letter by Lydia Cruez defending Fairview Heights Alderman Scott Greenwald very hypocritical. As I recall, when Cruez was an alderwoman, she would get periodic complaints concerning a guy in her ward who had stacks of wood lining his property to the curb. She didn’t defend it back then.

As for no specific ordinance against it, she should know about the nuisance ordinance; after all, it was used for the “jungle house.”

As for Cruez mentioning Greenwald’s support, in the end, of the Miracle League, I would hope she remembers it was his opponent, Brenda Wagner, who brought the concept to Fairview Heights. Wagner was responsible for getting Mike Matheny’s Catch-22 Foundation on board for a $100,000 donation.

Wagner has guided this project from start to finish, so if credit is due, the right person should receive it.
