It appears that St. Clair County Associate Judge Heinz Rudolf can’t make an unpopular decision. This whole situation with East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks should have been resolved in St. Clair County and not the Illinois Supreme Court. Rudolf ruled that Parks could stay on the ballot despite not having the minimum number required by law; the state Supreme Court took Parks’ name off the ballot.
If a judge can’t make unpopular decisions, he should resign. Judges should be thinking for the majority, not the minority. It appears Rudolf just does not want to do the politically correct job. How many other St. Clair County judges want to do the correct thing? Requirements are requirements to be followed, not abused.
