California, be resourceful on water

Almost every night on TV we hear about the drought that is happening in California. They knew at least five years ago that the snow pack in the Sierra Nevada mountains was decreasing, but theydid not do a thing.

Now they want everyone across the United States to help pay for water for California. I have a solution: They could build desalinization plants along the coast and in San Francisco Bay and pump that water into reservoirs. I mean, if you live next to the largest body of water in the world, why not?

If Melbourne, Australia, can do it to provide drinking water for that city, why can’t California do the same?
