My grandfather has been gone a long time now. He lived in East St. Louis when times were a lot different. But I can remember him saying: One day people will carry guns and the streets will be like the Wild West.
He was a big fan of the TV western “Gunsmoke.” In the old West there were truly legendary bad men who shot each other down in the streets, leaving their mark in our history books. But there are so many killings today the only mark left behind is a blood stain in the street.
I am glad Grandpa lived in the times he did. If he were around today, he would have to agree that even U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon couldn’t clean up this mess.
