Letters to the Editor

Thanks, moms, for all you do

With Mother’s Day upon us, I would like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to every mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, adoptive mom – every woman who has taken on the role of nurturing lives. I am beyond thankful to have a mom who loves and believes in my siblings and me. I really don’t want to know where we would be without our mom. I deeply appreciate the love my grandmas and aunts have given without expectations.

Day after day, moms are called to a higher standard of selfless love for their families; giving their time, energy and effort to help others live a better life.

Moms face a lifetime of responsibility to set a pure and good example for those little eyes watching them, those little ears listening to them. It’s 24/7, 365 days a year, no turning back. Once you’re a mom, you’re a mom.

To all the moms, thank you for every good seed you have sown into your child or children. Be encouraged, whether your kids are still living with you and depending daily on you, or grown up and moved away. Your love matters so much to us.

Sometimes you haven’t gotten our thanks or appreciation, sometimes you’ve gotten a nasty response (especially in our teen-age years). But please know, moms, you influence us; we need your God-given wisdom, courage, honesty, patience, love, compassion and forgiveness. Please, moms, don’t give up on us.

I cannot wait to have the honor and privilege of being a mom; I am so proud of the woman my mom is.
