Selective free speech

So Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is noisily upset that film producer Spike Lee has focused on Chicago-related violence in the upcoming film “Chiraq” (working title). The mayor wants the Iraq flavor to tales of murdered children removed. Too real, I guess. But real enough for Chicago parents, members of Purpose Over Pain, who have lost their children that way.

Oh, how the leftist progressives abandon their valued freedom of speech when it's their ox being gored. The production has yet to begin and already that city's heavy administrative hammer is swinging against the effort by Lee.

This creator and artist makes a sensible suggestion: "Wait til the movie comes out ... see it first." But withholding judgment is not one of Emanuel's virtues. Neither is rooting out the financial violence that Chicago does to the state’s budget.
