I am writing to express concern over Gov. Bruce Rauner’s proposed $140 million budget cut to Community Care Program and the negative effects such cuts will have on thousands of older adults.
His proposed cuts will endanger the quality of care and life of Illinois’ most vulnerable citizens. They will be faced with no transition care plan and be, ultimately, forced into costly nursing homes.
In-home care is not only a compassionate way for older adults to age independently, but it is also more fiscally responsible. By keeping our aging adults in their home, not only are we saving money but we are also sparing their dignity. Without funding for the program, clients will be left with no care and no protection against potentially dangerous situations.
I urge state legislators to fully fund CCP and protect our beloved elderly.
