The headline in Monday’s Dear Abby shone a light on a huge problem we are having: dental care in mursing homes.
I work with Alzheimer patients. It is very difficult to get them to take their medicine off a wooden spoon let alone try to get a brush into their mouths for the minimum three minutes required to do a good job.
I would like to throw out a challenge to all dentists, hygienists and dental students: Come up with a way to improve dental care and empower the rest of us to do a better job.
All of us in the field would be willing to give input to help come up with a viable solution. Let’s work together to keep those choppers chomping.
