As a leader in the hospital and health care community, I regularly support and advocate for legislation that will benefit patients and community health. There are many important health care issues under consideration in Illinois including workers’ compensation, which was recently addressed in your publication.
Workers’ compensation reform was addressed by the Illinois General Assembly in 2011. At stake are not just provisions aimed at reducing awards paid to those injured on the job, but also significant reductions in payments to health care providers for workers’ compensation claims.
State Sen. Bill Haine is among the many people who argue it would be wise to let those reforms be fully realized. The community would be better served by making existing laws work rather than spending additional time and money on another overhaul.
Haine has consistently demonstrated that he has the region’s best interests at heart. We may not always agree on the issues, but I respect his efforts, know his door is always open and view him as a reliable defender of our communities.
