This is addressed to the individual who wrote the editorial on June 22. I was appalled when I read your editorial. Methinks that you need to get a copy of the Constitution of the United States and read it.
Try the First Amendment which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” FYI: this means we cannot have a state religion. That’s because (if you paid attention in history class), our forefathers had escaped being told in England what religion that they had to belong to. They did not want that here. The phrase that you used, “separation of church and state” does not appear in the Constitution. That came from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to someone.
Now, as you see above, we have “free exercise thereof.” That means we do not have to leave our beliefs at home or in our pockets while serving in public office.
