Gene Robke is quick to point fingers and spout his statistics to support his hatred toward George W. Bush and the Republicans in his letter published June 19. According to him, George and the Republicans must be the root of all evil. Unfortunately, Afghanistan and Iraq claimed a total of 6,717 American lives because George W. Bush acted on bad information given to him by the CIA. At least he’s big enough to own up to this mistake.
Gene, you must not be aware there was another war before Afghanistan and Iraq. It was Vietnam where 58,220 Americans lost their lives and George Bush had nothing to do with it. President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, both Democrats, got us in and kept us in that mess. A Republican by the name of Richard M. Nixon got us out of Vietnam.
There was another conflict of sorts that caused total embarrassment to the U.S. referred to as the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba. No, George Bush didn’t have anything to do with that either. This was the brain child of a Democratic president by the name of John F. Kennedy.
I know its difficult to be objective, but please try harder.
