The first Republican debates are history. From all accounts, more than 24 million Americans viewed the political talent show. I have no clue as to how many St. Clair County voters viewed this contest, but here’s the thing: We, the voters of this county, won’t have any impact on the outcome of the national election.
Unfortunately, many people think they can affect a state race or impact a presidential campaign. The turnout at the poles will swell — Illinois posted 57 percent while nationally 47 percent of eligible voters cast ballots.
Hopefully a record number conservative candidates will file to oppose current office holders. The grip that the Democratic machine holds on St. Clair County is second only to Chicago. Nepotism and cronyism is rampant and runs deep. Many of those wearing black robes are no better than the criminals they help convict.
If they are currently in office they should be removed. Let’s make changing this county our first order of business. Make a change where you can.
