Veterans benefits

I was recently informed of some new veterans benefits. You can now have veteran status put on your driver’s license and ID in Illinois. Take your DD-214 to your veteran representative either at the unemployment office or Jefferson Barracks to get certified. DMV won’t do it without the certification. The cost is $5 for the DL and $10 for the ID. Another benefit is, if you are between 30 and 50 percent service connected, disabled and you own a home, you’ll get a nice tax break. The VA rep will explain that to you.

These benefits were enacted in the last two months. They’re your benefits, use them.
