Tobias Wall’s purported article on the call by Rep. John Shimkus to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood quickly turns into an apology for that organization. From the get-go, Wall assigns the call to end funding only to Republicans. If he’s new at journalism, he needs to know that many of us who are life-long Democrats are equally incensed by the videotaped discoveries and cavalier talk in its high ranking employees.
And, there’s no “purporting” about the employer for the officials in these videos. Even the national president saw fit to apologize for their “tone.” They are wine swilling, highly compensated and high-handed workers in the sale of baby parts — on behalf of Planned Parenthood. Fully half of Wall’s article trots out again and again the mantra of those purveyors, sic, “only 3 percent.” Yahdayahda. Wall’s references could well have been taken verbatim from some of their news releases. I doubt that he’s done much fact-checking on any of it.
Almost all reporting contains some slant on its information. No big deal. But it’s time for Mr. Wall to separate out his allegiances and biases from the facts.
