I recently received my power bill from Ameren.. The total was a bit over $146. However, of all that, less than $56 was actually for the power that I used over the time period (less than 1,000 kilowatts). All the rest was in various fees and delivery charges. Less than $5 was for taxes.
It seems to me that paying close to double for various fees compared to the product received is excessive, to say the least. It galls me when Ameren asks for rate increases to these various fees and charges. Obviously someone is getting rich on my money and I would bet that I’m not the only one who faces this situation. It is ridiculous for Ameren to constantly encourage us to save energy, when all they will do is raise these fees to make up for the power/gas we are not using.
Next time these people ask for a rate increase, I encourage readers to contact their representatives and let them know how you feel about the situation.
