I’m glad the Pope went back to Rome so we can get some important news on television. The second coming of Christ would probably not get the attention afforded the pope by the national media.
And, I don’t appreciate his little homilies entitled “the evils of capitalism,” where he tells us we are not doing enough for the poor. I don’t recall him discussing the evils of communism while he was in Cuba consorting with the Castro brothers. No world leader has been given this much attention much less the heads of other religions.
The US spends more money on the poor than any country on earth. The poorest person in this country is probably much better off than half of the people in Italy or Argentina. The Pope lives in a castle with his every wish at his beck and call. How dare he criticize our way of life? We don’t tell him how to run the Vatican, so he should stay out of our politics.
Before all the raving liberal lunatics start screaming that I am anti-Catholic, let me tell you that two of by best and dearest friends were Catholic. They are gone now, but I still remember them with much affection. I just think that this country, particularly our government, should not treat the pope any different than they would the leaders of other denominations.
