Tuesday, Dec. 8, about 5:45 p.m., my son was traveling westbound on Highway 161 between Mascoutah and Scott Air Force Base when a deer jumped out in front of him and wrecked his car. It was dark and there are no streetlights where the accident occurred, and as a 16-year-old driver he was scared and confused.
As a parent, I wanted to say thank you to a guy named Kevin who stopped and helped him before we could get there, and to Rich James who stopped and directed traffic for us. It renews my faith in humanity to know there are people like you in the world that stop what you are doing and help someone in need. God bless you both!
