Maybe it’s better to pay people fairly

Bruce Rauner isn’t taking a salary as governor. And while that might, at first seem admirable, it would also seem to free him up to not take the job all that seriously.

Here we are, halfway through a budget year with no budget, riding out winter storms that have flooded many regions of our state and he’s decided now’s a good time to get away from it all for a vacation to an undisclosed location. It’s frustrating that he’s trying to cut take-home pay of correctional employees like me who are doing our jobs every day when he can’t be counted on to do his.

Maybe this shows it’s better to pay people fairly and know we can count on them to get the job done.
