Republican hypocrites

As the fall elections approach, we will hear volumes of Republican rhetoric about less government, fiscal restraint, GOP values, the Constitution and pro-life. Today’s Republican Party is completely hypocritical on all of the above.

Less government: Presidents Reagan and the two Bushes expanded government, while Clinton and Obama shrank government.

Fiscal restraint: Eisenhower was the last fiscally conservative and good Republican president.

Republican values are: Racism, bigotry, homophobia, misogyny, greed and voter suppression. They have given us a host of phony, self-righteous preachers of morality like Dennis Hastert and their ranks contain many Christian, church-going racists.

The Constitution: Republicans oppose the 14th Amendment on abortion and the 1st Amendment by forcing Christian beliefs in public institutions. They try to amend the Constitution every time they disagree with it on issues such as tenure of Supreme Court Justices, allowing states to ban same-sex marriage, balanced budget amendments, term limits, flag burning, and repeal of the 16th and 17th amendments.

Pro-life: Republican pro-life exists for the fetus only. After the child is born they try to cut the child’s food stamps and education funding. In Flint, Mich., 12,000 children will likely have permanent brain damage from leaded water, where Gov. Rick Snyder runs Michigan like a business. That’s Republican pro-life.

Yes, it’s time for a change, from Republican obstruction. During the 113th Congress, the Republican Senate minority set a new record high of 253 filibusters.
