The recent Associate Press unofficial declaration that Hillary Clinton had clinched the Democratic presidential nomination was extremely ill-timed. It was a real bush league move on their part, coming just hours before the last big primary Tuesday would have confirmed Clinton’s triumph.
Their premature action reminded me of my youthful grandson on Christmas morning. He just can’t resist and surrenders to the urge to go under the tree and peek into some of the wrapped presents positioned there awaiting the traditional family gift unwrapping.
Evidently the AP has forgotten the role of the mainstream press in America. Their job is to report the news not try to make it.
