Immigrants must adapt

This letter was taken from another one attributed to Australia’s Prime Minister: “Immigrants, not Americans, must adapt — take it or leave it. I am sick and tired of worrying whether or not we are offending some individual or their culture. Our culture has been developed over two centuries by millions of men and women who have fought and died for our freedom.

We speak English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language. Most Americans believe in god. This is not some right wing political push, just a plain hard fact. If the word god offends you, then we suggest you choose another part of the world as your new home.

We will accept your beliefs, traditions and customs. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony.

This is our country, our land, our lifestyle. Once you are done complaining about our flag, our pledge of allegiance, our way of life, you may take advantage of another American freedom, the right to leave. If you are unhappy here, then leave. We didn’t force you to come here. Accept the country that accepted you.

We will not allow you to establish your little enclaves, where you try to rule by your antiquated laws (Read: Sharia law). Our system is not perfect, but it is the best system in the world.” Deal with it.

It’s a shame we don’t have leaders who feel this way.
