Bill Clinton evidently hasn’t learned from past mistakes. He’s still meeting up with women on the sly, not worrying much about the ramifications. In this latest instance, involving Attorney General Loretta Lynch, at least her husband was in attendance.
The political firestorm that followed topped even Clinton’s 1993 “hairgate” controversy when he held up air traffic to get a haircut while sitting comfortably in Air Force One with engines running on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport. It shows that his judgment and the optics of his sense of entitlement haven’t improved much since then.
Lynch certainly should have known better too. She’s not a star struck school girl meeting a political legend for the first time.
In 1999 then President Bill Clinton appointed Lynch as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, jump-starting her future career with the White House. Lynch was also a partner for eight years at an international law firm in Washington that served the Clintons.
Surely it wasn’t just a long conversation about the grand kids. Like Donald Trump, who has 8 grandchildren himself, pointed out, "I love my grandchildren, but if I talk about them for more than nine or 10 seconds, after that, what are you going to say?”
Does this liaison pass the “duck test”? If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
