On Independence Day, I read of three violent attacks by radical Islam Jihadists against other Muslims in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. Our president has directed this term not be used in official briefings or reports. If these were Methodists conducting these attacks in the name of their religion, I’m sure he would not hesitate to label these groups as “radical Methodist terrorists.”
I know that all 1.5 billion Muslims are not terrorists and they are suffering perhaps more than we are, but there are enough radical Muslims that some of us believe the term is valid. I’m sure most Muslims agree these terrorists are radical, even they profess the Muslim faith, no matter how warped their interpretation of the Koran and we have to be realistic. I doubt these terrorists are motivated by words.
Finally, to the writer from Carbondale who supports C.J. Baricevic, please note that the House of Representatives did vote to fund research on the Zika virus, but the bill is tied up in the Senate because the Democrats attached taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood to the bill. U.S. Rep. Mike Bost is a hard-working Congressman who even sleeps in his Capitol Hill office to save money. As a retired Air Force officer, I’m proud to be one of his supporters.
