Gateway Grizzlies say Pete Rose will coach first base during May 15 game

There are many reasons to attend Opening Day of the Gateway Grizzlies’ 2015 season, but now there are 4,256 more.

Major League Baseball’s all-time hit king, Pete Rose, will visit Sauget when the Gateway Grizzlies begin the 2015 season on May 15. Rose will coach first base and third base during the Grizzlies’ opener against the Rockford Aviators. Rose hit 4,256 in his stellar major league career.

The Opening Day first pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. in the friendly confines of GCS Ballpark.

For only $100, fans can purchase an all-inclusive package that includes the opportunity to meet and take photos with the Cincinnati Reds great. This ticket also admits fans to an upstairs party suite with an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Rose’s visit on Opening Day kicks off the Grizzlies’ five-game “Fireworks Super Show Series” during the 2015 campaign.

Other dates include “Crazy Game Show Night” on June 27, “Salute to America Night” on July 4, and the Grizzlies’ annual “Greatest Night in Baseball” on Sept. 6. The fifth fireworks super-show night will be announced later this season.
