Okawville wins 4th straight regional title

Okawville handily beat Lovejoy 72-34 to win a Class 1A regional championship on its home court.

It is the fourth consecutive regional title for the Rockets, who made it to the 2017 state championship game, only to lose in overtime to Effingham St. Anthony.

Okawville ended the first quarter with a 3-pointer by Caleb Frederking to take a 16-13 lead. By the half, the Rockets had stretched their lead to 13 points and showed no signs of slowing down.

Okawville (22-8) will play Winchester in a White Hall sectional semifinal game Wednesday.

Madison outlasts Metro East Lutheran for regional title

Madison beat Metro East Lutheran 62-55 on Friday in the Class 1A Mount Olive Regional championship game.

Madison (14-13) will play New Berlin in a White Hall sectional semifinal game Tuesday.

Pinckneyville breezes to regional title

Pinckneyville surged to a Class 2A regional title on its home court Friday night with a 73-33 victory over Gibault.

The Panthers controlled the game the entire night, outscoring the Hawks by 19 in the first quarter and leading 48-12 at the half.

Pinckneyville was ranked third in the final Class 2A regular season state AP rankings.

Pinckneyville will take on Nashville in a Wesclin sectional semifinal game Wednesday.

Nashville wins regional title

Nashville moved past Hillsboro 60-51 to win the Class 2A Staunton Regional championship Friday.

The Hornets controlled most of the game, leading the Hiltoppers 41-23 with 6:23 left in the game. Later in the fourth quarter, Hillsboro went on a 9-1 run to make it 54-46 with 1:14 left to go. But Nashville held on to its lead to claim the regional championship.

Bryson Bultman and Carson Parker scored 20 points apiece to lead the Hornets to the win.

Nashville (23-7) will play Pinckneyville in a sectional semifinal game Wednesday.
