Sparks React to Cameron Brink's Performance in First Start of the Season

The Los Angeles Sparks pulled off a massive win on Saturday night, defeating the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, 101-95.

This was thanks in large part to Cameron Brink's strong performance in her first start of the season. Sparks head coach Lynn Roberts inserted Brink into the starting five, replacing the injured Nneka Ogwumike.

This marked Brink's first WNBA start since her rookie season in 2024. She responded with arguably her best game in the last two years.

Brink registered 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, a steal, one block and two tirples before fouling out in 24 minutes of action.

Brink's strong play drew a reaction from the Sparks.

"Brink was in beast mode. " the team posted on X, sharing the 6-foot-4 forward's highlight reel from Saturday's win.

That's now two straight wins for Brink and the Sparks. They improved to 3-3 after back-to-back road victories.

Up next for L.A. is the Washington Mystics on Friday. The Sparks get five full days off before their next game, which will mark the third matchup of their current four-game road stand. Tipoff from CareFirst Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Sparks have not provided a firm timetable on Ogwumike's return from injury. Brink could be in line for another start on Friday if the 10-time All-Star remains sideliend.

However, if Brink continues to play like this, she could give Coach Roberts reason to consider keeping her in the starting lineup even upon Ogwumike's return.
