NFL Legend Tom Brady's Interaction With Zlatan Ibrahimovic Draws Attention
Tom Brady and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are two of the most decorated athletes in the history of their respective sports. FOX Sports decided to put them in the same room, and what came out of it is worth paying attention to.
With FOX serving as the exclusive English-language broadcaster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States this summer, the network brought together Brady and newly signed studio analyst Ibrahimovic for a feature called "Zlatan x Brady: GOATS on GREATNESS."
The full interview drops May 26 on FOX Sports' YouTube channel, but an early clip has already started making the rounds, and it's easy to see why.
The conversation goes beyond highlight reels and career stats. Brady opens up about his path to becoming the most decorated quarterback in NFL history and the mindset that drove him through 23 seasons.
Tom Brady and Ibrahimovic on What Built Them
Brady didn't grow up thinking he was destined for greatness. He started out playing baseball and only found football in high school. Even then, he didn't consider himself ahead of anyone.
"I kind of had a very naive belief that things would work out the way that I want it to, but when I look back now, I'm like, 'Oh, my God. I can't, [it 's] still hard to believe that it was almost like a false confidence in yourself,'" Brady said.
He described himself as a late bloomer who spent most of his development years trying to catch up to players around him. That feeling never really left. Brady said even after reaching the top, he kept the same mentality he had as a kid, trying to prove he belonged. The hunger didn't go away just because the results started coming.
"I always remembered where I started. As a kid, behind everybody else. And then once I passed everybody, I was still gonna work twice as hard to make sure no one else caught me," he added.

Ibrahimovic brought a different perspective but landed in the same place. He talked about growing up in a tough environment and how that background shaped both his personality and the way he played. For him, the hardship wasn't something to move past. It became part of who he was.
Brady connected with that and took it further, pointing to what he sees as a growing problem with young athletes today.
"The greatest thing that ever happened to me as an athlete was I struggled. I think the biggest problem with a lot of young athletes today is that they never learn discipline. They never learn resilience. They never learn how to overcome the challenges. They want things so easy all the time," Brady said. "A great player never feels entitled. I wanted the challenges. The harder you made it for me, the better I did."
That mindset isn't unique to Brady and Ibrahimovic. LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Stephen Curry, Muhammad Ali, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Lewis Hamilton and Wayne Gretzky all carried that same belief.
