Metro-east girls soccer players Kailey Duncan and Mikayla McCarthy, of Collinsville, and Claire Stark, of Triad, highlight a list of 12 who committed to play at Southwestern Illinois College.
The list also includes Triad players Michelle Grotefendt and Amy Onesky, Edwardsville’s Allison Pritchard, Collinsville’s Victory Ford and granite City’s Taylor Buske.
“We feel very good about the players we have coming in to join the six we have returning from last year,” Coach Juergen Huettner said. “What was the glaring need for this year’s class? Well, we lost players in every position from last year’s team so we basically looked and found players who we think will be able to make us a strong teram again in the fall.
“We have 18 players on our roster right now and if we get a walk-on or two and we end up with 21 or 22 players, we wouldn’t be unhappy with that. I do like the players we have recruited. They’re good kids who we think will help us have another good year.”
Rounding out the list are Mary Mskovic and Hayley Guerrero, of St. Louis, and Bailey Dabney, of Silverdale, Wash.
